Star light, star bright…
Add that to twinkle twinkle little star and you have star themed rhymes from childhood. There has always been a fascination with the stars from the earliest of times.
Until this past century we’ve never know much about them, their beautiful light a mystery. While we so much more about them today, the more we discover, the more we find how very little we know. I can’t begin to fathom the vastness of creation and the magnitude of galaxies.
The star theme has been super trendy in paper crafting and I was excited to create this tag project for the Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking January 2014 issue. I thought a vintage spin on the star would be fun to create and this pretty congrats tag was the result. The star motif was repeated three times…the star metal bottle cap, the clear star trinket pin and the star bingo motif. I love using the metal bottle cap tins to hold all manner of small embellishments together. I liberally add a good layer of Glossy Accents in the bottom of the tin to act as an adhesive, then add in the larger embellishments. Some vintage buttons I picked up off of Etsy fill in the smaller spaces and then I sprinkle in vintage glass glitter and sequins to finish it off. The result is on large beautiful custom accent created from many smaller ones.
You can find my other star project (a clean and graphic version) on the Moxie Fab World blog here. MFW is hosting a Constellations: Trendy Star Power Challenge right now so if you’re inspired to create your own starry project, consider linking it up!
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? Psalm 8:3-4
Edited to add: Hey! If this project is something you’d like to try, I just noticed that the Star Bottle Caps are on sale half price here.
Thanks for popping in! Happy creating!
