Yes I know…we are well into 2014. The time for reflection should be past but I’m a little slow this year. Usually I post this the last week of December but I hope you’ll bear with me as I take a little nostalgic trip through 2013 one last time.
It was a great year. Lots of challenges to be sure, but lots of new things and blessings that I will be most thankful for. The highlights were escaping to the Bahamas for a week with my hubby, swimming with sharks (makes me sound so exciting doesn’t it? truthfully…they were just nurse sharks) and spending time with my family. February 16th brought a very special event as my son got married and we welcomed my lovely daughter-in-law into the family. The rest of the year was mostly filled with the simple joys and hectic pace that a large family brings.
I thought I’d share a few of my favorite projects from 2013 as I usually do with the recap. As a designer I feel like I’ve settled into a wonderful space by focusing on two design teams that I love. I’ve been designing for ellenhutson.com in the CLASSroom since September 2009 and love sharing tutorials there every other Friday. 2014 starts my 3rd year with Maya Road and as of Fall 2013, I share the Design Team Coordinator duties with Karen Grunberg. I just can’t say enough about how much I love working with Maya Road. The quality and creative possibilities of the product is second to none in my opinion. With the wedding, travel, family life and an accident in September, publishing took a very back burner for me in 2013. It’s something I hope to work on a little more in 2014 if possible.
And so in no particular order…
I adored all the inking and layers designing this Hey! card that I designed for the CLASSroom.
Bright pops of color was something I really enjoyed experimenting with. This tag mini album is something that still makes me smile and wow…did I ever get inky for this project.
Mini canvases are near and dear to my heart. I just can’t seem to stop creating them. This one is aptly labelled joy as it brought me so much creative joy just to creative it.
This “sans sentiment” card was created for a Maya Road swap with Stampendous and was my first experiment with mica flakes.
A sweet hodgepodge of Maya Road goodies, this miss you card was one of my favorites at summer CHA.
Another summer CHA project, this pretty I Do album now resides in the home of my oldest son and his wife. I don’t have a link for it as I’m not sure that I’ve shared it online yet so stay tuned for that.
This altered clock doesn’t tick tock but I love how it looks sitting on my piano.
One of my few published designs of 2013, this Joy card was designed for the Moxie Fab World column in the last issue of Paper Crafts magazine November/December 2013. It’s now being published digitally as Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking with special print issues. I loved the bokeh challenge and this just may be my favorite card from this past year.
One of the few projects I did this past December was a holiday photo card to sent out in place of actual Christmas card. It’s a little peek into my beautiful family this past year. I am so blessed.
That pretty much wraps it up. I’m excited for the possibilities of 2014. Hubby is starting a new job, we are all happy and healthy, I’m finishing up physio soon, the renovation is slowly coming along and will hopefully be finished up this year! We have no plans at the moment but to trust God and raise our family one day at a time.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful 2014!
