What do you get when you combine mason jars with crafting supplies?
mason jars + sweet supplies = beautiful crafting storage
I’m pretty taken with everything mason jar related. Check out my Pinterest board here! There’s tons of fabulous ideas.
Mason jars bring back wonderful memories of childhood weekends spent on my grandparents farm. Grandma also had produce canned up from her amazing 1 acre garden. Our favourites were her pickles that she preserved each year. As a city girl, it always amazed me that pickles didn’t have to come from a grocery store but you could do it yourself. It seemed like the most wonderful kind of magic. Shortly after we were first married, we moved out to Grandma’s farm and took over the old homestead. I took up canning inspired by Grandma. It was a challenge and I like a challenge. I loved the end of the harvest season when I’d line up the rows of glistening glass mason jars fill with beautiful peaches and other produce. While I don’t can much any longer I still look back at my childhood days and those days on the farm with fond memories. Mason jars seem to symbolize good food and hard work and the beauty of simpler times. In my mind, that’s one of main reasons that mason jars are still so popular today.
Recently I ordered some sweet mason jar lids and went to town reorganizing some of my crafting supplies. I’m thrilled with how they’ve turned out with no work from me. Cosmo Cricket makes the most darling lids and mason jar accessories that had me gasping when I first saw them online and they look just as sweet in person. Pairing them up with wide mouth mason jars makes the perfect storage for many of my embellishments. I adore flair and buttons and all kinds of goodies. Keeping them in mason jar storage not only looks great but it remind me of what I have so that it doesn’t just sit in a drawer gathering dust. I’m sure that someone out there must be like me. Out of sight, out of mind. Display storage is one of the best ways for me to store things I use all the time or want to use more. If I see it, I’m much more inclined to use it!
As you can see, I love storing my mason jars on a window ledge. I craft in the basement in a very small space so every available storage space counts. It’s a sunny southern exposure though and I love how the sunlight shines through my clear mason jar storage. I like mixing things up and you can see a few different styles of glass mason jars and lids. The different lids work well for unique storage purposes. Using a sweet pink enamel ring with a grid insert makes a great place to store pencils, markers or in my case, paint brushes and sequin tubes. A plain old tall mason jar is the perfect place to store some vintage buttons I’ve accumulated along the way.
One of my favorite lids is the White Decorative Knob and Lid Showtopper. It’s just so classically beautiful! Currently I’m storing some sweet flair in this jar.
One of the pretties lids is also a wonderful way to store ribbon. I love that crystal knob and the way it catches the light. Instead of ribbon, I have it full of lovely rolls of fabric tape. It’s so pretty and a great way to keep it all organized.
