My holiday decorating has taken a back-seat to my holiday crafting. In this case though, I just couldn’t resist creating this darling little chapel as it is so sweet, so much fun to create and the bonus is I can use it as a little decor piece. I think you’ll see why I just had to stop and create this!
This beautiful little paper chapel is a new die set from Spellbinders® and A Gilded Life Studio. With all the little pieces I was so surprised at how quickly this paper design went together. It’s more than a little addictive too as I can’t wait to create more. The Beacon St. Chapel die set GLD – 012 is perfect for the holidays, weddings, Easter and other special occasions.
To create my chapel, I’ve die cut text patterned paper for the sides of the chapel for that vintage/shabby chic look. The roof sections were all die cut from gold glitter cardstock. This saves the step of adding glitter and this cardstock is nice and firm and makes the chapel a little more rigid. Each of the little arched windows is also die cut from the gold glitter cardstock. To add in some “glass” to the lower windows, I’ve cut little lengths of Crystal Clear Plastic to slide in from the inside and adhere. This inner strip of clear plastic also reinforces the longer side walls and is a quick and worthwhile step!
Embellishing the Beacon St. Chapel is a huge part of the fun. I’ve decked mine out for Christmas with tinsel twine along the roof edges. Some tiny jingle bells and mirrored stars also add some fun touches and sparkle to the design. To finish it off a little trinket pin flag makes a sweet addition to the steeple.
The finished Beacon St. Chapel is the perfect size to add in a battery operated tea light. I love how it lights up the chapel with a golden glow.
I have a few friends joining me today for a fun and impromptu little blog hop. We’ve all created this little chapel just for fun and they are sharing their versions on their blogs today. Thanks so much Latisha for the challenge! Please stop by the following links for more inspiration!
