Who is ready for another edition of Summer School? This week MFT Stamps presents session three of the best Summer School ever. I mean seriously! Who ever though Summer School could be so much fun! I hope you have time to join us for session one and two but if you didn’t, no worries! Just jump in and get started now. Each lesson is stand alone lesson which means you don’t need the previous lessons to join us.
Today the Summer School design topic is Hard versus Soft. That means some elements of a design are visually hard and some are visually softer in appearance. They need to balance each other for an optimally designed project. We’ll be talking about this principle of design, how to know what is visually soft or hard and how to implement it in your own designs. I’m excited to be teaching on the MFT Blog so be sure to stop by to watch the video tutorial, get learning and see how this card incorporates a balance of hard and soft elements.
Today’s card design is the one you’ll see in the instruction video. Is it too soon to use snowflakes? I hope not as I’ve been dying to use this gorgeous Die-namics Pierced Snowflakes set. I’ve layered on top of vellum and then a stamped lace circle. Some of these layers are visually soft and others are more “hard”. I explain it all in the video so be sure to check it out!
To frame the outside of the design and add some hard line elements to the design I used the Pierced Square Frames Die-namics set. It’s a really subtle way to frame a project and not take away from the main focal point.
There’s also daily challenges for you to play along with and of course, super-fabby prizes! Summer School Sessions 3 runs all week long so be sure to stop by MFT Stamps for the lesson. If you’re a little behind getting started, don’t worry! All entries must be submitted by noon EDT on August 21st. There’s lots of time to get that homework done so be a star student and get crafty!
