Romance. I love it. It’s a look that makes its way into most of my creations and nothing has me happier that creating a card with hearts and flowers and bling. When I needed to create a wedding card for a special couple, I decided to get inspired by their wedding theme to make it extra personal. The colors were white, soft grey, and soft blush pinks and lots of beautiful vintage doilies thrown in. It’s no surprise that I I absolutely adored it. I wish we’d had the internet and Pinterest way back when I was planning my wedding!
I’ve had this gorgeous Darice crochet heart stashed away in my craft room waiting for just the right project and this happened to be it! It was kind of a warm off-white color and it just didn’t seem quite right. There were some watercolors on my desk as I rarely put them away which got me wondering what would happen if I added watercolor to a fabric doily. Hmmm…
As you can see I loved the results. It was simple. All I did was wet the doily well with a mister and keep adding watercolor pigment. It does dry a bit lighter so please keep that in mind. I used a heat gun to speed things along.
I have a ton of patterned paper in my stash but none seemed to be just right. The solution was to make my own with stencils and stamps. Two of my favorites worked perfectly. The Lace Background from MFT Stamps is stunning in any color but I love the softness of it stamped in Grout Gray ink. Gorgeous. I also used this ink to sponge over the Large Polka Dots Stencil. Stamps and stencils go together like chocolate and peanut butter. Yummm.
Blueprints 13 is my hands-down favorite Blueprints Die-namics set and yes, I’m using it again. It always makes a simple elegant design with absolutely no work. After putting all the layers together, I adhered my crochet heart doily to the middle with a hot glue gun and then layered together lots of stunning embellishments from Maya Road. The sentiment slides in perfectly amidst the pretties. It’s the Label Maker Sentiments Stamp set and the Die-namics Label Tape. Yes, again. It’s another must-have.
Edited to Add: FYI just found out there’s a one day sale on at MFT Stamps on Blueprints die sets! Yay! 10% off one day only – Thursday September 24th Code: BP10
Keep on creating!
