I may need a sugar fix. Two days in a row of cards with “sweet” sentiments and I didn’t realize it until I was photographing them. This card is doubly sweet with a sweet ice cream treat as an accent.
As today is Wednesday, it’s time for another fun sketch design from MFT Stamps. This week’s MFT Stamps sketch is #MFTWSC278. There’s both vertical and horizontal elements to this sketch and I had fun interpreting it in a creative way. I hope you’ll join in the challenge for some creative time! You can find all the details here on the MFT Challenge Blog.
What I did with this sketch is to take the vertical panel layer and still use the area but not use that extra layer. If you look at the sketch on the MFT Stamps blog it will make more sense as to what I’ve done. Take a look at the dotted panel. To create a vertical element to it I first added Orange Fizz to the stencil in that area (using the Large Polka Dots Stencil) and faded it off to Pink Lemonade. The second way I’ve highlighted this area is to die cut it with the new Stitched Strip Die-namics. I LOVE this die! It adds great interest without actually cutting the paper. And finally, all those sweet sequins. They are adhered with Glossy Accents over the die cut stitch lines as the third way to accent this vertical design element.
So let’s talk the rest of the design. That CUTE ice cream cone is from the Sweet Treats Die-namics set. All these warm spring days has me thinking ice-cream! I’ve die-cut the different shapes from smooth white cardstock and then sponged them with ink. I really like the way blended ink looks on die cuts and it’s a great solution if you don’t have the card stock color you have in mind.
You can find all the supplies used listed and linked below for your convenience. I hope you find some time to get sketchy! There’s always a chance to win something fab! Don’t forget, details and inspiration are here on the MFT Challenge Blog.
Have a creative day!
