It’s Day 2 and the MFT’s August Release Countdown is sailing right along! Today’s feature products are really going to make a splash…cuteness overload!
I love summer and everything about it but especially finding time to spend by the water. We are blessed to live so close to many of the Great Lakes and there’s nothing quite like them. I find the water and waves calming whether on the beach or out on the water or simply watching the sun set over Lake Huron.
While Lake Huron does not have whales, this fun card has been dreaming of the beach. Judging to my boys reactions, it’s sure to be a hit with younger ones or those who are young at heart.
So let’s take a look at the new Soak up the Fun Stamp Set and Soak up the Fun Die-namics. I’ve stamped these sweet images on watercolor paper and then watercolored them with Peerless Watercolors. The watercolor look is so perfect paired up with watery scenes. I love how many of the fish can be turned either way to really add movement and flexibility. One of the sentiments from this set is stamped onto a banner die-cut (from Blueprints 20) and then accented with a little watercolor detail over the word “splash”.
Check out the vellum tag. Yes it is vellum and if you look closely you’ll be able to see the stamped background right through the vellum tag. I’ve stamped it with the new Whimsical Waves Background in Black Licorice Hybrid Ink on the front side of the tag. On the reverse side, I’ve colored in the spaces with blues and turquoise dye based makers. I love the translucent look of vellum and it makes a fun watery background. One trick I came up with on this tag was the result of some problem solving. The dye makers on the back were just a little overpowering for the little scene and I needed to tone them down a little. To do this I spritzed the back of the vellum tag with water and blotted up the excess color with a paper towel. I LOVE how the mottled look of the dye when spritzed resulted in some fun texture!
