Hello, and welcome to the Holiday 2016 Essentials by Ellen Release Hop! I’ll be showcasing several of the new stamp sets and dies on my post today! If you’re just joining the hop, this is a great place to start and you can keep hopping until you go in a full circle. If you’ve already joined in, you should be coming by way of the fabulous Nichol Spohr.
It’s another super-fab and unique release and I couldn’t be more excited to share my creations with you today! You are seriously going to love this release and I know you’ll enjoy all the wonderful inspiration each step of the way along the blog hop.
So let’s get this started…. reindeer in pink? Of course! And sparkly too! I’m seeing (and LOVING!) the pink trend that seems to be popping up everywhere for the holidays. You know, sometimes I complain about the early product in stores but it’s really fab for crafting inspiration!
This card design features the brand new and stunning Leaping Deer Die by Julie Ebersole. It is so beautiful and perfect for so many techniques and ideas I have swirling around in my head. I’ve kept this design simple with the deer die cut from some sparkly Rouge Glitter Paper to show off how lovely it is simply die-cut. It’s layered over lots of fun details like the felt lined embroidery hoop for a sweet homemade holidays look. It’s a great play of textures mixed together…felt, glitter paper, stitching, and wood.
Quick Tip: Die-cut the deer from Craft-a-Board as well and adhere the two layers together to add extra thickness and stability to the fine die-cut areas.
You can also see a peek at two other fabulous new releases on this design. Check out the background of stamped pastel ornaments. They are from the adorable Fat Pants Stamp Set that is seriously a must-have! I’ve stamped them in some lovely soft Avery Elle Inks. You can find all the supplies used listed below at the end of the post if you’d like to recreate any of the details.
The sentiment is stamped on vellum in Jet Black Archival Ink using the Season to Sparkle Stamp Set. Julie Ebersole just keeps knocking these things out of the park!
And now for more pink! This time in watercolor! The beautiful wreath is the handiwork of a brand new artist to the Essentials by Ellen line. Brandi Kincaid has a unique hand-sketched that you are going to love. I’m featuring the Homespun Holiday Stamp Set today and it’s a huge set of fun elements. I was dying to watercolor this wreath and used Peerless Watercolors to do so. It may be tricky to see but I finally tried out Kuretake Gansai Tambi Starry Colors to highlight some of the balls. Oh la la! Gold watercolor!!!! Be still my beating heart!
Quick Tip: Add layers of watercolor to get a rounded effect to the wreath balls. I added in three layers of color waiting for each to dry to really get the look I wanted.
The watercolor paper is die cut using a stitched rectangle die and then adhered to the card front. I always like to make sure the watercolor paper is REALLY dry before adhering it to make sure it sticks well. To finish it off I adhered some sweet little Taylored Expressions Sequins using Glossy Accents.
Be sure to check out the entire Essentials by Ellen release! You’ll see lots of fab samples along the hop today. Do you have a favorite? It’s so hard to choose. I’m loving what I’ve used so far and I can’t wait to try out the rest!
