One the things I love about the crafting community is the caring hearts that make it up. I’ve gotten to know so many people on-line and even the ones that I’ve never met in person, there is a kindness there that almost always shines through.
Today I’m so excited to be part of a charity blog hop that celebrates giving to others who need it. This charity blog hop was thought of and put together by amazing and talented Sandy Alnock. The thought behind it is to share our bounty with those less fortunate.
Recently I was reading how much we have been blessed. It’s always good to be reminded. Our first world problems are really different as to the rest of the world. If we have money for paper crafting and hobbies, we are so much better off than most. I feel as if we get insulated in our own ideas of what is wealth and what is poverty. But most of the world does NOT have the things we take for granted. A warm home. Medical care. Enough food. Safety.
There are so many ways to give to others, that those of us joining in on this hop wanted to highlight some of our favorite ways to give. Perhaps you’ll be inspired by one of our posts to make it part of your charitable giving as well. And it’s not only great to give for ourselves, but the charities you’ll see highlighted along this hop are wonderful for giving gifts! What a wonderful gift for someone who has everything.
Now before we get down to all the details, if you’re just joining us for the hop from my blog, just follow along, the link to the next blog hop participant will be at the end of the post. For those of you who have been hopping along, you should have come from the Ellen Hutson LLC CLASSroom blog who is also a sponsor by the way. If you get lost, you can find all the participants listed on Sandy’s blog here!
The charity I chose to donate to was one i didn’t even have to think about. Samaritan’s Purse is an amazing organization that I first came across years ago with their Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes. Perhaps you’ve heard of it too! It’s a wonderful way to spread Christmas cheer across the miles and get into the true Christmas spirit. I love how it gets my children involved in giving to others as well.
There are so many things I love about Samaritan’s Purse. They are an amazing Christian non-profit charity that does work in so many unique ways across the globe. They touch lives by sharing the gospel, providing medical care, safe water, agriculture and emergency relief as well as helping free women and children from human trafficking. If you have a concern or care, there’s a big chance that you can find it in Samaritan’s Purse. Also amazing is the percentage of your donation that is used directly where it is needed. The overhead costs and marketing are so low. I really appreciate that having previously sponsored a child through another organization that had much higher overhead. I want my money to go where to the people who need it!

Samaritan’s Purse is an international company with great ways to donate from many different companies. As I’m Canadian I used the Canada Gift Catalogue but that doesn’t mean the gift was used in Canada. It’s just a way to make it easy for you to get a charitable giving receipt in the country you reside for tax purposes. I hope you’ll take the time to check it out. There’s just so many different way to give gifts that you’ll be amazed and inspired!
When you give your gift on-line, you’ll get a transaction confirmation on the site and also by email. You also have the option to send an electronic Honor Card as you can see in the screen shot below.
When I first started looking at all the options I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to give until I came to an item that just seemed perfect for a special member of my family. You may have deduced by the baby card below that it has something to do with infants and that would be correct. I ended up purchasing a couple delivery kits to be used to help aid in the safe arrival of new babies. I was so excited to be able to give this gift to my daughter in honor of her upcoming graduation from nursing school. She’s been studying to be an RN for the past few years and we couldn’t be more excited that she will complete her studies in a few weeks. She currently is doing her consolidation in the postpartum ward at an Ottawa hospital and she has certainly found her niche. I couldn’t be more proud and am so thrilled for her as I know it is a dream come true. What a wonderful way to be able to touch lives on a daily basis.
And so I’ve created a baby card for this blog hop. I could have gone for a graduation card route but decided on this instead. While this card isn’t for my daughter, it does tie in with the delivery kit theme and this would be a unique baby gift as well. She may have gotten her love of babies from me! I’ve used all kinds of product on this card. The patterned paper used is Little You from Crate Paper. I’ve paired it up with a sweet mother and baby owl stamp from Lawn Fawn called Mom + Me.
I’ve also used a very sweet Vintage Button Card die from Maya Road. If you’re looking for some great dies at a fab price be sure to stop by Maya Road this month (March) as they are all on sale 25% off with coupon code DIESOFMARCH. You can find them all here.
The rest of the design is a mix of scraps of embellishments and other goodies that I’ve been collecting I like to save lots of bits and pieces and use them up on creative layered cards. Cards are always great for using up this and that and I always think they make each card unique.
Almost every great blog hop has prizes! And really…who DOESN’T love a giveaway! The above companies are giving away fabulous gift certificates to their stores to those who follow along with the blog hop. Be sure to check out their blogs for more information on how to enter!
