Being Canadian, an American flag isn’t ususally the first thing on my mind. And to be honest, it wasn’t the first idea that came to mind when I set out to design a card using the brand new Stitched Star Grid Die-namics. But as I sat down this flag idea popped into my mind and I just had to give it a whirl and yes, I’m pretty tickled with how it turned out.
It’s day two of the June release countdown at MFT Stamps and I’m so excited about this release! Do you have favorites or a wishlist started? As I mentioned above I’m loving this sweet new star grid die set and it’s so appropriate for many things. Stars are sweet for babies and birthday and boys and encouragement so this set is absolutely a great one to have on hand. Do you remember the Stitched Heart Grid Die-namics? Would they look sweet mixed and matched as well?
To put this flag card together, I’ve layered the blue cardstock with white stitched die-cut stars. Then the panel is adhered over a red stripe paper from the Proper Pinstripes Paper Pack. I left a little strip of white along the right side of the card as a design element. Sometimes a bit of white is just what a card needs to make it pop. And I just may have had to google the american flag. I know it’s red, white and blue but I can never remember exactly where the colors go.
The sentiment be brave, is from another new set in the June release. It’s from Beary Big Adventure Stamp Set and I was going through sets and wondering what I could use when this one popped right out at me. How fun is that? It’s stamped onto one of the Stitched Fishtail Sentiment Strips Die-namics that I’ve been getting LOTS of use of with this release. It’s so very flexible and a great staple addition to a die collection. The sentiment strip is slipped through a star frame that I created by die-cutting two sizes of the Stitched Star STAX Die-namics at once from gold foil card stock.
Quick Tip: Repeat design elements through out a design to tie it together. For instance in this card, the stars are repeated again in the larger gold foil star shape.
So how did I do? As a Canadian I’m hoping I did justice to the iconic American flag!
All supplies can be found listed below and the new items will be available after the June Release Launch at 9 pm EST, Tuesday June 6th.
