It’s time for this month’s Creative Construction with Blueprints feature from MFT Stamps! I love the Blueprints Die-namics line as it’s such a great way to create a card layout easily. All those bits and pieces mix and match so well on a card front and the basic dies can be used with other sets as well. Each month this is one of my favorite challenges but I love creating with them so much!
This month I’m focusing on Blueprints 9 Die-namics and it’s really fun tag card design. Having a huge tag die on the front of the design really changes things up a little from some of the layouts I usually use and there is so many ways to use it. For this card, I’m going masculine as per the challenge and mixing up some of my favorite ways to make a “guy card” interesting without my usual flowers and frills.
Things I like to think about when designing a masculine design are texture, pattern and color combo. Here’s a few tips…
- mixing textures, especially natural ones like cork or cord, woodgrain etc. really add interest to a guy card so it doesn’t get boring
- color… you can’t go wrong with bold primaries, a hit of black or that wonderful neutral…Kraft!
- add in bits of metal embellishments…staples, paperclips, charms etc.
- pattern is a great addition to masculine designs. You can never go wrong with plaid, pinstripes, chevrons, houndstooth and other traditional patterns. Stamp them or use patterned papers!
