It’s time for a blog hop! Ellen Hutson LLC has a brand new October release and I’m excited to be sharing in the blog hop featuring the fabulous new stamps and dies that are exclusive to the shop. I love all the amazing new products Ellen brings out each month and this card is all about the new Thistle by Julie Ebersole. It’s a gorgeous unique flower set that features some great two step stamping for extra dimension.
This release is so much fun and I can’t wait to find time to play with the other products as well. Check it out!
I’ve decided to mix things up a little to really make this pop by combing not only ink, but also watercolors and colored pencils as well. Who says you can’t have it all?!
What I’ve done with this card design is to stamp all the thistle layers in Avery Elle Pigment Inks. Using pigment ink allows you to add watercolor over it and not have it smear and bleed. This is especially important because I added in the background with Peerless Watercolors after it was already stamped. Sometimes designing is fluid and what I often start off with in my mind is not how I end up creating things. It’s OK to go with the flow.
To add in the details on the thistle and leaves I’ve pulled out some Prismacolor Pencils and shaded in the shadows etc. You’ll notice a tiny bit of patterned paper peeking out and that’s the Modern Graphics by Julie Ebersole Essentials by Ellen Paper Pack. They are all really great supporting prints!
Next stop along the way is die-cutting genius Kittie Caracciolo and I know you’ll love what she has in store!
