It’s no secret that I love creating with dies. From the first die cut I cut out they seemed amazing and it’s rare for me to create a design that doesn’t use them. Today’s card goes big and bold with a full card front size die cut and lots of gorgeous embellishments for an elegant wedding card. While wedding season isn’t starting quite yet, I have love on my mind with Valentine’s Day right around the corner. I love creating for both occasions, especially in a romantic subtly vintage style.
This card uses the gorgeous Tim Holtz Sizzix PAPER CUT BIRD Thinlits Die. I literally gasped when I saw it and had to order it right away.
Birds + Flowers + Delicate Die-cut Details = Stunning
Not quite sure what happened but with a lot of deadlines last year it just kept waiting for another day. 2018 for me is going to be more about creating what I want to create and when I want to do it. I’m really challenging myself to slow down and enjoy my creative journey.
I can think of a lot of different ways to use this die but I started off by layering it over a very subtle patterned paper. It’s Crate Paper CHASING DREAMS 6 x 6 Paper Pad by Maggie Holmes. This is a gorgeous patterned paper pad and it was hard to decide which pattern to pick!
Quick Tip: When using an intricate die, keep the background subtle to prevent the design from being overwhelming.
To add the sentiment to the design I wanted to keep it very simple and not cover up the beauty of the die cut. I’ve always loved clear acrylic embellishments and Tim Holtz Idea-ology FRAGMENTS are a gorgeous way to add a beautiful clear effect. The “forever” is a rub-on from Tim Holtz. I can’t find the original rub-on set but it was a gorgeous collection of words and wings and I just want to use it again and again. Even through they are rub-ons there’s just so much packed into each sheet that they really last a LONG time. The little clear epoxy heart sticker that is also on the tag comes from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology HEART CHARMS Custom Metal Tags set.
There’s also some pretty Maya Road flowers in the embellishment cluster, both the Medium Vintage Paper Flowers White and the Small Vintage Paper Flowers as well as cream leaf pins also from Maya Road.
I’ve also decided to participate in more challenges! Today this card is linked up to the Die Cut Divas Love is in the Air Challenge! Check it out!
Thanks so much for joining me today! Happy creating!
